The message of the united states is not nuclear power. the message of the united states is a spiritual message. it is the message of human ideals; it is the message of human dignity; it is the message of the freedom of ideas, speech, press, the right to assemble, to worship, and the message of freedom of movement of people.

We're headed for what is called type 1 civilization, planetary civilization. type 2 would be stellar civilization, like star trek. type 3 civilization would be galactic, like star wars. we are type 0. we get our energy from dead plants, oil and coal. but the question is: will we make it? will we make the transition from type 0 to type 1? it's not clear.

Music is my life. music runs through my veins. music inspires me. music is a part of me. music is all around us. music soothes me. music gives me hope when i lose faith. music comforts me. music is my refuge.

Music becomes very personal. when you marry a message you want to send out into the world with good music, all of a sudden you have a very potent way of delivering your message.

Each time i have the urge in me to make a statement or send a message or to issue a manifesto, i don't bother to write a novel. i write an article and publish it in a popular newspaper, or i make a television appearance. i would not waste five years of my life in order to send to the israeli readers a simple message such as, "let us change a policy or stop the settlements," or, "let us strive for peace." this is not what it is about.

Your message means less than the way the message is delivered, because in actuality, the way the message is delivered, is the message.
