I decided that i want to live the rest of my life happy with what i'm doing. so when i play tennis again, i have to play it for the right reason. i don't want to play to get my no. 1 ranking back. i don't want to play for the attention, or to earn more. i don't even want to play because the world wants to see me do it, even though it's nice to know that the world is interested. i only want to play because i love the game, which is the reason i began to play at age seven in the first place.

If you watch rafael nadal play tennis, you can only respond with amazement and great admiration. he is an incredible athlete with so much discipline, so much concentration and someone who likes to put a lot of passion into every point. words fail to come out of me to describe his game appropriately. i've rarely seen anyone who approaches a ball with so much attention. with such passion and joy that it makes great fun to watch him. with him, you can associate everything that makes tennis so beautiful.

The cord-cutting generation hates cable tv 'cause they think they're corporations and they rip people off and they make you buy a bunch of channels you never watch in order to get the channels that you do watch. they've always said, "we want to be a la cart. we want to be able to cord-cut. we want to be able to watch what we want." so it's now evolving where if they only want to watch hbo they can but they have to pay for it. if they only want to watch cinemax, they can, but have to pay for it.

It's too much pressure. you have to think match by match and moment by moment or it drives you to distraction. i'm tired of all the talk about it. everyone is obsessed with it...if i was the type of person who had tennis, tennis, tennis all the time and i went to bed and ended up dreaming about tennis, i would go nuts.

All kinds of violence on the tv. you're not supposed to watch violence on the tv. children, they can't watch it 'cause they're afraid maybe the kids will copy something they see on the tv. i can't even get a funny cartoon anymore because some 12-year-old somewhere watched a particularly violent episode of the road runner-coyote show, and the next day, they found him at the bottom of a canyon, two giant springs strapped to his feet.
