Okay. now my skin is really prickling. i've read all the harry potter books, all five of them. i don't remember any half-blood prince. "what's this?" trying to sound casual, i point at the ad, "what's harry potter and the half-blood prince?" "that's the latest book," garth the other trainee, says. The book can't compete with the screen. it couldn't compete beginning with the movie screen. it couldn't compete with the television screen and it can't compete with the computer screen i don't think. and now we have all those screens so against all those screens i think the book can't measure up.

If i could just get broom to cooperate, we could fly, glo said. then we wouldn't have to worry about traffic. harry potter didn't have to worry about traffic. you relize harry potter isn't real, right? of course, but he could be. i mean, maybe not harry potter, but someone like him. who's to say?

I was given some harry potter books by a young friend. i wanted to know why young people liked it so much. and i noted that there were some values in harry potter that are common to many books that are popular all over the world. in the end, i think people prefer the good to win, rather than the bad.

Harry potter isn’t real? oh no! wait, wait, what do you mean by real? is this video blog real? am i real if you can see me and hear me, but only through the internet? are you real if i can read your comment but i don’t know who you are or what your name is or where you’re from or what you look like or how old you are? i know all of those things about harry potter. maybe harry potter’s real and you’re not.

I think the books are the books. they were conceived as books. they weren't conceived as movies. when i write scripts, that's an idea and a situation that i think is a really good idea for a movie. when i'm writing a book, i'm not thinking, "oh, this would be a great movie." this would be a very interesting book. and i think the books are things that cannot really be adapted into another medium.
