There are different kinds of truths for different kinds of people. there are truths appropriate for children; truths that are appropriate for students; truths that are appropriate for educated adults; and truths that are appropriate for highly educated adults, and the notion that there should be one set of truths available to everyone is a modern democratic fallacy. it doesn't work.

I've been making a list of the things they don't teach you at school. they don't teach you how to love somebody. they don't teach you how to be famous. they don't teach you how to be rich or how to be poor. they don't teach you how to walk away from someone you don't love any longer. they don't teach you how to know what's going on in someone else's mind. they don't teach you what to say to someone who's dying. they don't teach you anything worth knowing.

Myths, as compared with folk tales, are usually in a special category of seriousness: they are believed to have "really happened,"or to have some exceptional significance in explaining certain features of life, such as ritual. again, whereas folk tales simply interchange motifs and develop variants, myths show an odd tendency to stick together and build up bigger structures. we have creation myths, fall and flood myths, metamorphose and dying-god myths.

I have examined all of the known superstitions of the world and i do not find our superstitions of christianity one redeeming feature. they are all founded on fables and mythology. christianity has made one-half of the world fools and the other half hypocrites

So multifarious are the different classes of truths, and so multitudinous the truths in each class, that it may be undoubtingly affirmed that no man has yet lived who could so much as name all the different classes and subdivisions of truths, and far less anyone who was acquainted with all the truths belonging to any one class. what wonderful extent, what amazing variety, what collective magnificence! and if such be the number of truths pertaining to this tiny ball of earth, how must it be in the incomprehensible immensity!

The only way to be a champion is by going through these forced reps and the torture and pain. that's way i call it the torture routine. because it's like forced torture. torturing my body. what helps me is to think of this pain as pleasure. pain makes me grow. growing is what i want. therefore, for me pain is pleasure. and so when i am experiencing pain i'm in heaven. it's great. people suggest this is masochistic. but they're wrong. i like pain for a particular reason. i don't like needle's stuck in my arm. but i do like the pain that is necessary to be a champion.
