I've always loved elton john and that is one of my favorite songs by him and bernie (taupin). the american songbook is ever-expanding and i feel like it works well with what i was trying to say.

There's no difference between lyrics and poetry. words are words. the only difference is the people who are in academic positions and call themselves poets and have an academic stance. they've got something to lose if they say it's all poetry; if there's not music to it, and you have to wear a certain kind of checkered shirt or something like that. it's all the same. lyrics are lyrics, poetry is poetry, lyrics are poetry, and poetry is lyrics. they are interchangeable to me.

The only criticism heard with any frequency of elton john's first american album, 'elton john,' was that the production was too grandiose. the melodies were superb, and lyrics frequently very good, and the performances flawless.

I lived my teenage years in my 20s when i sort of left home and became elton john success, then it became elton john excess... everything i couldn't do when i was younger i did 10 times over. i was having the time of my life. i was becoming the person that i wanted to be.

So let us decide whether you want a shelter, a safety zone, which will no longer yield conflict, whether you want to escape from the present conflict to enter a condition in which there shall be no conflict; or whether you are unaware, unconscious of this conflict in which you exist. if you are unconscious of the conflict, that is, the battle that is taking place between that self and the environment, if you are unconscious of that battle, then why do you seek further remedies? remain unconscious.

No matter what bernie sanders did, no matter how many delegates he was getting, hillary clinton was always going to trump this, and bernie never had a chance. that's the real rigging of an election; that's the real interference in an election, and nobody talks about that, including crazy bernie.
